Welcome: PHIND (pronounced "find") is a nutrition, dietetics, and public health job search website. I launched this site in December 2011 as a way to share jobs and opportunities in the field of public health and nutrition. I primarily post about jobs in, although not limited to, these areas:
- public health nutrition
- community nutrition
- public health
- sustainable agriculture
- social marketing
- health education
- food and nutrition policy
- health care reform
About me: Hi, my name is Nilam and I am a little bit web shy. Since August 2012, I taught community nutrition and public health courses (where my students would probably never classify me as shy or quiet) within the Department of Nutrition at the University of Alabama. Before teaching, I worked at the local and state levels in community and public health nutrition. I have a Master's in Public Health (MPH) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a Bachelor's in Human Food and Nutrition from the University of Houston. I have been a registered dietitian/nutritionist (RDN) for nine years.
Why do you do this when there are other websites? I realize that online job searching is nothing new. However, as a job seeker in Europe and the US, I felt that there was a gap in high quality job search tools for dietitians and nutritionists. Although I’m an RDN, I’ve never worked in the clinical or foodservice industries. Most of the available job search sites were geared towards these types of jobs (and they do it very well). A lot of job search sites can’t replace professional opinions, and many job search sites don’t glean information from professional list serves. Consider that some of the best jobs are shared through professional networks. I consider these two approaches key assets of Phind. Take a look at the organizations to see where I retrieve job postings from, they are more than likely a great place to expand your search. I post and share job vacancies and other opportunities from listservs and journal sites.
Policy: I do not receive any financial incentives to advertise positions. I do not make any money on this site and my website is free of ads because that is how I designed it. I am not the lead or contact for any job that is posted. I’ll often copy and paste the job description as is with minimal content edits often to make the job description easier to read. If you are the contact or job lead and would like to get in touch, or have me edit a post, my contact info is below. Further, I am not an expert in job searching, this is a hobby of mine. If you used the site, and it landed you a coveted job, I’d love to hear from you. Thoughts on how to improve the site, or expand reach? I’d love to hear from you. Want me to include jobs in another sector of nutrition? I’d love to hear from you. Got a question? I'd love to hear from you. Know of a lot of great jobs and want to share them? I'd love to hear from you.
