Minimum: Bachelors Degree in Nutritional Sciences (Dietetics), Public Health Degree, or related field with an emphasis in Nutrition. Must have RD, LDN.
A minimum of 5 years experience in nutrition counseling. Private practice or clinical outpatient experience is preferred. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member and highly motivated to work independently as well. Strong listening and communication skills, attention to detail and demonstrates ability to be flexible.
Job specifications: Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments, interpret biochemical and clinical data, and monitor those at nutritional risk. Design, plan, discuss and implement nutritional/behavioral recommendations to meet nutritional needs of the patient. Modified diets may include but not be limited to- plans for those with diabetes, GI concerns, hypertension, abnormal blood lipids, and weight management. Bariatric Nutrition experience is required. Make appropriate notations and recommendations using electronic/ computer based nutrition care plan and progress notes using ADIME format. Evaluate effectiveness of nutritional recommendations and modify or revise as needed. Develop and organize educational materials and tools for individuals and group presentations. Develop and secure professional working relationships with other healthcare and wellness professional through communication and marketing. Marketing, promoting, and raising awareness about nutrition services through communication with area health professionals. Charting and keeping records to monitor patient progress.
Specific Skills and Competencies: Strong clinical skills and knowledge of medical nutrition therapy treatment. Ability to apply current evidenced based nutrition recommendations/practice. Must exhibit the ability to motivate and enthuse others in initiating behavior change. Adheres to deadlines and exhibits strong organizational and administrative skills. Must be able use a computer and must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point. Good writing skills are essential as well as knowledge/willingness to learn to manage web content and social media updates. Must be able to use basic office equipment such as a copier, printer, etc. Experience with electronic health records is preferred.
