Job description: responsible for supervising /managing/ directing & providing leadership in preschool nutrition & physical activity. Identifying federal & other resources for developing partnerships with agencies to interpret & support program goals & provide oversight in development, implementation & evaluation of statewide programs that will enhance the Branch’s mission of reducing obesity in preschool children; & development of a statewide nutrition & physical activity training needs assessment & training implementation. Staff assignments, establishing work plans, develop performance expectations. Oversight in development of nutrition, physical activity programs, trainings & policies for child care facilities; developing nutrition & physical activity training materials & modules, developing nutrition & physical education materials, developing sample policies for child care facilities, & providing technical assistance to child care facilities, & monitoring the environment & menus of child care facilities & providing recommendations of improvement.
Skills and competencies: experience in federal nutrition programs, adult learning principals, training and nutrition policy. Previous experience in a lead or supervisory role is needed. Prefer applicant to be a registered dietitian with the Commission of Dietetic Registration; or a Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist, licensed by the North Carolina Board of Dietetics/Nutrition. Ability to develop and deliver training effectively is critical to the position. Training in adult education is preferable.
Master's degree in nutrition or public health nutrition, with three years of program administration or supervisory experience, plus the ADA Commission on Dietetic Registration eligibility; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
