UNC Food Day Coordinator at UNC-Chapel Hill; open until filled.
This position is open to UNC-Chapel Hill graduate students who are in the field of public health. The position will begin in mid-May and end on the week of October 24 (Food Day). The position will require 5-10 hours per week beginning in mid-May, and will increase to 15-20 hours per week beginning in September.
Key roles and responsibilities:
• Organize logistics for multiple Food Day events on and around the UNC campus (or one large "marquee" event at UNC's School of Public Health) • Research and outreach to new groups who might be interested in Food Day and provide organizing support; help to distribute materials provided by national Food Day office • Coordinate an email listserv/blog site for interested students, faculty, and community members associated with UNC • Arrange meetings of local committee to plan for Food Day • Communicate with the national Food Day office to provide updates on organizing and learn about upcoming opportunities such as webinars and new resources to push out to the local email list • Act as a liason with the Duke, NC State, and Durham tech campus coordinators to explore opportunities for cross-campus collaboration • Assist with writing press releases, contacting local media, and arranging an online community calendar of events to help publicize Food Day, starting in September • Use social media to promote Food Day in the months leading up to the event; maintain Twitter/blog/Facebook pages for UNC Food Day • Keep records on active contacts which can be used for future projects at UNC and shared with the national Food Day office
