The Department of Preventive Medicine and Biometrics (PMB), Division of Health Services Administration, at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU) in Bethesda, Maryland seeks a qualified candidate for the position of Research Associate (Non-Tenure/Non-Tenure Track). PMB is comprised of six divisions, two medical residency programs, more than 65 full-time faculty members, and over 200 additional adjunct faculty engaged in a wide variety of research projects relevant to public health.
Duties: The Research Associate will serve in the Department of Preventive Medicine and Biometrics and will be directly involved in the execution, and design of Social and Behavioral Sciences research activities. The incumbent assumes responsibility for management and support of quantitative and qualitative research projects related to cancer prevention and control and sexual health. He/she will assist in designing, developing, executing, and implementing scientific research, including managing study logistics; data collection, entry, management and analyses; literature reviews; extensive assistance with the submission of review board approvals and grant applications; and assistance with the preparation of presentations at scientific meetings and publications in journals.
Qualification Requirements: Candidates must possess a Master's degree in a social science field plus two years of substantial experience conducting social science research. This level of expertise and knowledge may also be evidenced by possession of a Bachelor's degree in the area of science required by the position, combined with a minimum of two years of specialized experience in the scientific specialization required by the position. Candidates should have excellent writing and analytic skills as well as, strong problem-solving capabilities. The ideal candidate will have prior experience conducting qualitative interviews or focus groups and experience with quantitative data analysis, interpretation and reporting using SPSS or SAS data applications.
