About: The Department of Health and Kinesiology Department at The University of Texas at San Antonio invites applications for an Assistant (tenure-track) Professor in Health with specialization in dietetics or community nutrition. The University is situated in a vibrant and growing community, serving a diverse, multicultural population that is reflected in our student population. While continuing its tradition of excellence in teaching and community services, UTSA is rapidly moving toward classification as a tier one doctoral/research intensive institution.
Responsibilities include teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses in the Coordinated Dietetics Program and Community Health, conducting nationally visible research in dietetics and public health nutrition in collaboration with current faculty, pursuing external funding, and performing university and community related service.
Required qualifications 1) an earned doctorate in Nutritional Science, Public Health Nutrition, Community Nutrition, Nutrition Education or related field, or related field (ABD with anticipated graduation of December 2012 will be considered; Preference will be given to candidates who have already finished their degrees), 2) demonstration of ability to teach in dietetics, community nutrition, health promotion, or related courses, and 3) demonstration of a solid research agenda and capability; and 4) potential for external research funding.
Preferred qualifications for Assistant Professor include 1) experience with education and research of culturally diverse and underserved populations; 2) teaching experience in health promotion, community health, and supervision of dietetic practicum and internships; 3) record of publications and external funding, 4) potential to collaborate with current faculty, and 5) RD/LD or other certification.
