Research Assistantship with Peers for Progress, Chicago, IL
Peers for Progress has available a Research Assistantship in conjunction with its project examining peer support and diabetes management in primary care and community settings. The overall project includes a demonstration project with Alivio Medical Center in Chicago and the development with the National Council of La Raza of a National Peer Support Collaborative Learning Network. Activities of the RA would span across these and include help in coordinating patient surveys, program evaluation, development of materials for the Collaborative Learning Network, preparation of reports and manuscripts (with opportunity for sharing in authorship) and others as may be identified in conjunction with project needs and the RA’s interests. Salary would be on a base of $7,000 (USD) for the semester, with option for tuition assistance depending on the RA’s level of interest and projected involvement in the program. Continued funding after this semester is also available as the project will run through December of 2014.
Because work in a Latino community is central to the project, we need to require proficiency in spoken and written Spanish, e.g., ability to participate in meetings in Spanish, ability to translate materials from English into Spanish, etc.
