The Department of Health is seeking an Assistant or Associate Professor of Health with expertise and experience in Health Care Management to join our undergraduate public health and CEPH accredited Master of Public Health program. This 9-month tenure-track position offers a competitive salary and benefits package. The starting date will be August 2014.
Responsibilities Well rounded ability to teach a variety of graduate and undergraduate courses such as Legal Aspects of Health Care, Health Care Financial Analysis and Management, Advocacy for Quality of Health Care Services, and others pertaining to health care management and health policy at the graduate level and Dimensions of Wellness, Transcultural Health, and others at the undergraduate level.
Expectations of the position ****Teach graduate and undergraduate courses through distance education and/or face-to-face format. Engage in peer-reviewed scholarship that leads to publications and presentations. Advise and mentor graduate and undergraduate students. Provide service to the department, college, university, profession, and community. Provide leadership in developing new undergraduate and graduate courses and programs (as and when required) in health care management. Arrange and supervise capstone practicum projects for students enrolled in the Health Care Management track of the MPH program.
Requirements Earned doctorate in health care management or business related field with health care management focus required. ABD (all but dissertation) at time of application will be considered with the expectation that all requirements for the doctoral degree will be completed prior to employment start date. Finalists must successfully complete interview process, teaching demonstration, and research presentation. References with contact information will be required prior to interview. Research, work and teaching experience in health care management or health administration are required. Demonstrated experience teaching online graduate and/or undergraduate college-level courses.
Preferences A Master of Public Health or a master’s degree with health care management focus. A strong background in health advocacy and health policy developed through education (a minor or concentration), experience, or a combination thereof. Administrative or management work experience including financial management in health care institutions.
