About the position: The faculty appointment will be in the UNC Department of Nutrition in the Nutrition Epidemiology Division. The position will involve research based on the NIH funded longitudinal SEARCH for Diabetes in Youth Nutrition Ancillary Study, as well as other funded projects including both observational studies and clinical trials, led by Dr. Beth Mayer-Davis. In addition, the successful candidate will work collaboratively with other investigators at UNC and elsewhere to advance a trans-disciplinary program in global diabetes, with particular interest in emerging epidemics of diabetes in low- and middle-income countries including (but not limited to) China. As part of developing this collaborative program of research, the scholar will engage in mentored activities to develop independent funding in the area of diabetes.
Position requirements: - A PhD or equivalent terminal degree is required. - A consistent record of publications and presentations is required, along with clear evidence of collaboration and experience in diabetes related research. - Skill in epidemiological and biostatistical methods appropriate to analysis of longitudinal data is required.
Experience in statistical modeling relevant to nutritional data (e.g., structural equation modeling, measurement error modeling) is preferred. Experience developing collaborations outside of the United States is desirable.
