Position details: Assistant Professor, Exercise Physiology in the School of Health Sciences, School of Health Sciences, Department of Physical Therapy / Exercise Physiology Program. Position: Assistant Professor of Exercise Physiology. Appointment: Tenure Track Appointment Starting Fall 2012.
About: This exciting 12 month position will offer the qualified applicant the opportunity to teach in the growing undergraduate program in exercise physiology. The exercise physiology program has four concentrations: Fitness Professionals, Pre-Allied Health, Research/Graduate and a Pre-Professional/Pre-Med Concentration. Individuals with a clear research agenda, preferably in the areas of chronic disease prevention, wellness, and community fitness particularly for underserved or rural populations are encouraged to apply. Saint Francis University is a private, Franciscan institution, situated in the beautiful Allegheny Mountain region of southcentral Pennsylvania. The 600-acre mountaintop campus serves approximately 2,400 undergraduate and graduate students and is located midway between Pittsburgh and State College, Pennsylvania.
Experience: The preferred candidate should hold a PhD in Clinical Exercise Physiology or related field (ABD's in the final stages of doctorate will also be considered), with demonstrated clinical exercise physiology experience, and an ability to teach undergraduate introductory and advanced exercise physiology courses including, clinical exercise physiology, exercise testing and prescription and exercise across the lifespan. Additional courses based on interest and expertise could include sport nutrition, functional anatomy, research methods or seminars in areas of interest. An individual with certification (CES, RCEP, CSCS, HFS) is preferred. In addition, this position offers the opportunity to coordinate scholarly research and to develop interdisciplinary outreach programming in the Human Performance Laboratory housed in the DiSepio Institute for Rural Health and Wellness. The future development of an accredited MS in clinical exercise physiology program is also under consideration. Faculty members are expected to demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching, student advising, and university service, participate in undergraduate research, as well as professional service as evidenced by maintaining membership and involvement in national and regional exercise science professional organizations.
