UNC Postdoctoral Position on Human Papillomavirus Research in Men Postdoctoral position available immediately in research related to male circumcision and HPV infection in men in collaboration with Dr. Jennifer S. Smith, PhD, MPH, Associate Professor of Research. Requirements: Doctoral degree in Epidemiology or other public health field. Successful candidate is expected to work with the PI and other study collaborators, including biostatisticians, on the writing of manuscripts of research data from a randomized controlled trial of HPV and male circumcision conducted in Kisumu, Kenya. The postdoctoral candidate will be expected to work with the PI on this and other HPV-related projects, and prepare research manuscripts for publication in international peer-reviewed journals.

Description: The Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a research facility of the Louisiana State University System, is seeking a full time Postdoctoral Researcher to study clinical and population level walking behaviors across the lifespan and disease conditions including obesity. The primary responsibilities associated with this position are: 1) assistance in conducting complex statistical analyses of population datasets, 2) conducting research clinical intervention studies, and 3) preparation of research grant applications and research papers. It is anticipated that over the course of two years, the incumbent of this position will develop independent research projects related to the epidemiology of walking behavior, obesity and health. The Pennington Biomedical Research Center offers a rich collegial research environment with state-of-the-art facilities for computing and the statistical analysis of large, complex datasets. About: The tasks/work consists planning and pursuing epidemiological analyses using the database of the Malmö Diet Cancer cohort (a population based study including 30 000 participants with base line examinations 1991-1996). So far analysis projects with a cancer focus have examined associations between the composition of diet and the risk of postmenopausal breast cancer; currently analysis projects regarding prostate cancer are planned and conducted. The focus of the proposed position is primarily research questions regarding diet, chronic inflammation and breast cancer risk.

SPRING Nutrition Model Development Position – Short Term Assignment

About: This position will serve as Director of the state's comprehensive Tobacco Control Program, consisting of 20 staff and an annual budget of $42 million. The Director will provide leadership, guidance and direction to the Tobacco Control Program, including the development, implementation, evaluation and dissemination of effective tobacco control and public health interventions; implement the program's strategic plan; and ensure that strategies and actions are in place to achieve program and Departmental tobacco goals and reduce youth and adult tobacco use. This position will develop policy recommendations; work to establish best practices in tobacco control; oversee and direct program evaluation efforts; and provide open and consistent communication to the program's staff and contractors regarding program goals, objectives, policies, and procedures. The Director will collaborate with other areas of the Department to advance tobacco control activities; will facilitate the development of cross-program and intra-Department collaboration and initiatives; will serve as a liaison to the state Tobacco Use Prevention and Control Advisory Board and advocacy and stakeholder groups engaged in tobacco control activities; and represent the Department on tobacco-related work groups, task forces and consortia. The incumbent will be responsible for adding to the scientific knowledge base of tobacco control by adhering to scientific protocols as the tobacco control program is implemented and evaluated. This position will oversee preparation of grant applications, budget documents and program reports related to tobacco control, and perform other duties as assigned. The incumbent will serve as a member of the Division of Chronic Disease Prevention's management team.

About: The Stanford Prevention Research Center, an interdisciplinary research program on the prevention of chronic disease, is seeking applicants for postdoctoral research fellowships for the academic year 2013-2014. Fellows gain direct research experience in cardiovascular disease prevention, community and health psychology, behavioral medicine, intervention methods, clinical epidemiology, research design, and biostatistics. Concurrent enrollment in a master’s degree program in clinical research methods and epidemiology is possible, primarily for MD’s. One position involves a joint appointment with the Palo Alto Medical Foundation Research Institute (part of Sutter Health) and focuses on preventive health services research.
