About: The University of Utah, the College of Health and the Department of Exercise and Sport Science invites applications and nominations for the position of Chair of the Department of Exercise and Sport Science at the rank of Associate or Professor. This is an eleven-month appointment with the earliest start date being Fall 2012. The faculty seeks an individual who will provide leadership and vision for the department and who has good communication and mentoring skills as well as the ability to appreciate the diversity of the faculty and the student body. The Chair serves as the chief academic, fiscal, administrative, and development officer for the Department; contributes to our mission by being actively involved in teaching, scholarship, and service; responsible for faculty/staff development; and is our primary advocate within
the College of Health and the University. The Department offers a diverse array of degree options: five undergraduate programs (Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Fitness Leadership, Athletic Training, and Physical Education Teacher Education); and several areas of emphasis within the graduate program (Exercise Physiology, Psychosocial Aspects of Sport, Special Physical Education, Sport Pedagogy and Sports Medicine). With over 1300 undergraduate majors and pre-majors and 85 graduate students, the Department is innovative and energetic with a goal of being one of the top Kinesiology programs in the country.
